So there may be a couple of things you don’t know about me…

Ofcourse you know I love shopping and makeup and fashion… I also LOVE food.

I’m a real foodie at heart, and I love exploring new and upcoming restaurants and businesses.

I was invited to attend the opening of the NEW craft beer pub Head of Steam in Cardiff and I jumped at the chance of being able to review new food and an array of drinks! I was able to bring my husband which was so lovely as I was able to share my blogging experiences with him for the first time.

So on Monday 29th October, we took our short Uber ride into town (Cardiff) and made our way to the venue. Head of Steam is a really modern venue yet very cosy and inviting at the same time.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the staff who welcomed us in and showed us to the bar. As this was opening night, we were lucky enough to be able to try everything complimentary so we couldn’t wait to try all the interesting options!

I decided to try one of my all time faves first – a classic Gin and Tonic. It was divine. The choice of gin available was amazing, I opted for a fruity raspberry gin which was very refreshing and was great to drink whilst browsing the menu.

After that I fancied a cocktail – another love of my life. I asked the bar staff what they would recommend and they were so knowledgeable about all the different drinks they provide. I was recommended to try the Steamy Martini which comes with a shot of prosecco!

Honestly, it was probably one of the best cocktails I have ever tried. It had such a gorgeous passionfruit flavour – very easy to drink – followed by my prosecco shot. Plus how stunning does it look!

The decor is fantastic and I kept finding new things to look at at every turn of the head, They have a wall full of neon lights/ advertisements and old posters which really gave me biker chic vibes – I LOVE IT!

For our food, we were spoilt for choice. Since we were in a craft beer pub we decided to go for one of the recommended choices – The Besler.

Check out the rest of their menu and prices HERE.

It consists of 3 tapas style tasters alongside their paired matching beers. This was right up our street and we took our time choosing our options.

When the food arrived I was shocked at the amount we received. Usually when I have tapas its typically very small plates that don’t really fill you up. This however was an exception!

I chose:

King prawn tortilla which paired with PILSNER.

Chicken Skewers which paired with ENGLISH GOLDEN ALE.

Red Pepper Houmous with garlic and coriander naan which paired with BELGIAN BLONDE ALE.

As a complete novice of ales, it was so good to try such a selection and see how well they paired with the different foods. I highly recommend this dish as it gives you such a wide selection of everything they provide.

It felt completely relaxed and so cosy the whole time we were there and it felt like such a good socialising venue. The music selection was great and was not too loud which is one of my pet peeves – I hate not being able to talk to the person next to me so this was perfect.

If your in Cardiff, I highly advise you try this new delightfully delicious venue. Good food, Amazing drinks and cosy atmosphere.
