Christmas Glossybox Unboxing 2018 | BeautyandShe

Its 3 days until Christmas!

Can you believe it? Who else is excited as I am?

As Ive gotten older and people ask me “What would you like for Christmas?” , My response has been “Nothing”.

Now that may sound mean of me but I am so happy and blessed with what I have, I really don’t need anything! I much prefer spending time with family and friends and enjoying all the festivities… AND ALL THE FOOD!

Now there is one thing I have been indulging in over the past few months and that is Glossybox. If you don’t know what it is, it is a monthly subscription where you receive 5 beauty products straight through your letterbox.

So for this months edition, I thought I would share with you lovely lot, what I received and what I thought about the products. There are definitely products I will be buying again which would be great for Christmas stocking fillers too!

If you haven’t already checked out my Christmas gift guides then click HERE.

Firstly, the packaging was EVERYTHING. A red and gold box filled with red packing tied with a bow – Very festive.

The first product I had was a Liquid jelly blush by Niko Pro. Ive never heard of this brand before but after some research they are 100% cruelty free, vegan friendly and based in the UK. The colour I had was rather peachy, and im not too keen on peach blush but it did look pretty. The only problem I have with jelly blush is that is ALWAYS takes off my foundation underneath and looks patchy. I did have the same problem with this one too but perhaps I just need to perfect my technique.

Now if this doesnt scream Christmas then I don’t know what does. This lip crayon by Doucce is heavenly! Apparently the brand was inspired by Paris elegance and New York attitude – I love that phrase! It is so rich and creamy and is the perfect shade for this season. As you can see by the swatch it is very pigmented and I did have a tough time getting it off my skin! That just means its long lasting!

Unicorns are very much still in fashion at the moment I can see. This Cosmic Unicorn shower gel by Imperial Leather smells incredible. Its funny as the week before I recieved my Glossybox, I bought the exact same thing but in bubble bath and I adored the scent! The only thing I am disappointed with is that from the outside it looks like the gel would make the make glittery/holographic which is kind of what drew me to it –  Particularly as it says “Moon and Sparkles Unicorn Dust”. It does create a load of lovely bubbles though!

I posted this picture on my Instagram (@charlottethrupp) the other day and had such a great response. This is a shimmer roll on highlighter from Bellapierre  and it gives me so many 90’s vibes. This is my favourite product from the box and I know I will already by repurchasing. The shimmer is so pretty and the colour as you can see is not too cold and icy. I much prefer warmer toned highlighters. It is so easy to use – you literally just roll on and I blend slightly using my fingers. Plus you can use it not just on face but on the body too – It looks beautiful on my collarbones for the extra pop!

Now every single person gets blocked pores on there nose. There is nothing wrong with it, it happens. I have used many pore strips in the past just to see what effect they have and if they can eradicate those black dots. The reality – They ever manage to get rid of them all. Fact. This one by Maybeauty did remove a few but it will never get rid of them all girl. I wasn’t really too fussed on this product as I find them slightly pointless but even so  it was interesting to see how it matched some of the other ones I tried.

Now I love to enhance the look of my lips with liner and lipstick but I have never tried one of these lip masks which are supposed to plump and hydrate your lips. This is by BeautyBLVD and I found it so funny applying this to my skin, it looked like I had a botched lip job – nevertheless I persisted to keep it on for about 15 minutes to see if my lips had altered in any way, shape or form. The hadn’t really, they did feel softer but not really hydrated and they didnt look any plumper. It was fun to use but I wouldnt repurchase as a good quality lip balm or plumping gloss is just as good or better and quicker.

Well I hope you guys enjoyed this little festive read. I was very honest in saying that I would repurchase some and definitely not others. I love the concept of Glossybox and I know that some people would LOVE all the products but for me, only a select few – It is fun to try new brands though!

Have you guys tried Glossybox? Or had this edition? Let me now you thoughts below!

I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and enjoy this special time!

MUA Metallic Liquid Lipstick SWATCHES

Ok, so im a little obsessed with liquid lipsticks..

and when I saw METALLIC versions from MUA – I just had to buy them.

I’ve really been loving matte liquid lipsticks lately and how the look and last throughout the day (I always find they make my lips appear more full).

Metallic shades are great for all year round but I thought particularly in winter, I will be glistening like snow…

I purchased three different shades from the brand MUA, which is one of my all time favourite budget beauty brands. The quality of the products is incredible and the prices are even better.

These lipsticks were all £2 each making them such a bargain I couldn’t resist. I am loving the packaging designs of the products to really reflect the metallic and sleek vibes.

The first shade is called ‘Luster‘ and its this beautiful shimmery gold/beige. As you can see, its highly pigmented and very rich. It has a really creamy texture which was surprising as I thought it was going to be quite drying.

I feel like a snow queen or some form of mythical being wearing this. It is super reflective but surprisingly wearable. Its still a buildable product and you can make it more and more rich in depth as you go.

The second shade is called ‘Glint‘. This shade is a shimmery brown/gold with hints of silver. With this colour a little really does go a long way.

Im not too keen on this shade. It was a bit difficult to blend and get and even coat. Im not usually one for dark grey/brown lip shades but I do like the colour! Im sure with a few more layers I could even thing out.

The last shade is called ‘Blaze‘. This is absolutely ideal for winter with its rich berry colour. As you can see, its not complete pigment coverage which is nice as again, its blendable.

I really do LOVE this colour, its such a warm tone that goes well with my skin shade. This colour had a lot and I mean A LOT of glitter.. which isnt a bad thing..

Who doesn’t like glitter?

Im defo learning to love metallic after these bad boys.

Let me know which one is your favourite and if you have any recommendations for liquid lipsticks!

Ted Baker Treasure Trove + Swatches

Happy New Year to you all!

I hope you are looking forward to 2017 and what it has to bring.

I had a lovely Christmas with some beautiful presents and every year me and my sister get some form of Ted Baker product. (It’s kind of tradition now!)

And every year I am blown away by the quality and detail of the products and packaging. I’m a sucker for pretty boxes or bags so my collection of Ted Baker merchandise has grown and grown over the years.

This year was no exception, with its stunning pastel floral theme – Im in heaven.

See what I mean? BEAUTIFUL!

Inside are a few of my favourite beauty products from the 2016 collection which match the colour scheme perfectly.

Below I have included swatches and detailed photos of each of my favourites.

Bronzer/ Rose gold illuminating powder

I had a very similar one from last years collection which I am still using today! It as a swivel mirror which is ideal for a quick touch up and the rose gold packaging…. LOVE IT!

The blush is a very soft and delicate colour that will suit any skin tone. Its a very light weight product but extremely pigmented. The bronzer again is rich in colour but also has tiny bits of shimmer to really create a sunkissed look.

Eye shadow Trio

This trio compact is gorgeous. Again, a really nice size to put in my handbag if im out and about with a decent sized mirror too.

Colour wise, they have a neutral undertone to all of them and look very delicate on the skin. The first shade is a dusky beige pink with would look STUNNING just sweeped over the lids. The second is a super shimmery metallic bronze that would look lush in the crease blended out and the third shade is this deep rich charcoal grey. As you can see, all extremely pigmented and would work well with a flat or blending brush.

Contouring and eye shadow brush

Eeeeeek! How cute do these look? I love the pink ombre effect on the tips and they are so soft its unreal. They are almost too pretty to use!

Nail Polish

Ive always been a massive fan of the Ted Baker polishes. They are always great quality with no lumps or gooey bits, really great pigment and rich colour. How pretty is that pastel lilac pink? Perfect for spring I think.

Rose Lipstick

A pop of pink with this pink rose shade. I like to create a display in my room of my Ted Baker lipsticks as they just look so gorgeous all lined up together.

It is probably one of the most vibrant lipsticks I have ever owned and will look great with a tan in Summer and in the upcoming Spring months too. It has a very creamy texture and glides on to the skin effortlessly.

Tinted Lip Balm

This rose gold balm has not left my bag since Christmas day. It has been my go to balm for the last week.

I find all Ted Baker lip products super rich and creamy but this one leaves my lips feeling so hydrated and moisturised. It has a subtle nude/pink tone which I love as it goes with anything.

Eye brow pencil

I usually use a powder or gel to do my eye brows but im not adverse to trying a pencil from time to time.

The texture was not as soft as previous pencils tried but it is very rich in colour and its actually a good match to my colour at the moment. Im sure it will come in handy for getting precision!

What a selection.

As mentioned previously, Im always so in love with the design, quality and packaging of the TB products and I think this year has to be my favourite so far.

Do you have any favourite makeup packaging designs or had any Ted Baker products? I would love to add to my collection!

Have a beautiful Sunday afternoon,

2016 Top 5- Highlighters

It’s New Years Eve, almost another year over..

and what better way to end the year, with a touch of sparkle right?

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am obsessed with highlighter. (or anything sparkly or shiny…)

Over the past few years as they have become more and more popular, I have tested my fair share and have developed my favourite collection from 2016.

From liquid, to cream to powder styles, I’ve tried them all and have narrowed it down to my all time faves.

Benefit High Beam

I think im not the only one to say that this little thing packs a glittery punch. I was always a bit sceptical of liquid highlighters as most that I have tried always brought my foundation off with them and produced little or no highlight.

This however, is perfect. Its a very soft pink cream shade with a super reflected glow. Its very natural and gives a healthy look to my skin without me looking like a piece of tin foil. A little really does go a long way and I find that using my fingers to blend in to the skin works the best for me.

You can purchase this at most drug stores or from Benefit for about £19.50, A bit on the pricey end of things but it truly lasts forever.

Goddess of Love by IHEARTMAKEUP

I have had this for a year now and it is still going strong. This powder highlights is beautiful, and so is the packaging right?

Its a very light weight and fine pressed powder that does no get cakey with wear. It has a strong reflective glow to it, a bit more iridescent than High Beam.

The colour is a pearly white and this swatch is just after one sweep so its super pigmented. With this highlighter I use a fan brush as it picks up a lot product and gently dusts over the skin. You can really build this product up as well so you can have a subtle everyday look too. You can find it in your local Superdrug or online, but its a bargain as well at £4.99, this bad boy is a steal.

Revlon Photoready Instafix Highlighting Stick

On to cream highlighters with the Revlon highlighting stick, this product glides on to the skin effortlessly. It is quite handy to throw in my handbag for on the go shimmer and super easy to blend with my fingers.

The colour is darker than the previous products and works amazing with a tan for that summer glow. The shade I have is called Starlight and as you can see, very pigmented so again, a little goes a long way.

Its £9.99 for this product which is a bit much for it in my opinion but again, im sure it will last quite a while, especially in summer.

Makeup Obsession customised palette

How stunning is does this look.

This personalised palette from Makeup Obsession was from my sister for my birthday and she has filled it with my favourite shades and colours. The highlight in here is on the top right hand corner and is a cream balm.

Ive got the shade Gilded, which a a bright pearl white. It is really creamy and thick so it does need blending quite well. I find that the warmth from my finger tips does the job well but it creates the most beautiful shimmer and fresh dewy look.

The individual pan was £3.00 from Boots and fits in to any Makeup Obsession palette.

Makeup Revolution Radiance palette

An oldy but a goody.

This palette is great for everyday wear with my favourite shade being the middle one. Its lighter than the other two which is perfect from my skin tone. It does need to be built up to really get the lovely pigment but when it is on its divine.

This provides a natural fresh skin look without the weight of a heavy feeling product. I use a fan brush to apply this as I have much more control over the powder. The mirror is really good as its larger than most too.

From Makeup Revolution its a bargain for £8.

And that is my Top 5 for 2016. If I had to name a favourite, I think it would be Benefit High Beam but I wear all of these shown.

I would love to know any other recommendations from you guys or share your favourites with me in the comments!

Enjoy the rest of the holidays and I hope you all have a

Happy New Year!

Top 5 Christmas Movies.

I love nothing more than getting cosy with a hot chocolate and bowl of popcorn watching my fave Christmas films.

When people ask me what the best festive film is, I always struggle because I love so many of them…

I have actually managed to create my top 5 festive films for you guys (after much thought)… So if your stuck for Christmas inspiration, I highly recommend this lovely lot…

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

The Favourite.

I can watch this film over and over and over again and not get bored. If you love Chevy Chase then this is the film for you. It is so funny and i’m pretty sure all families can relate to the antics of the run up to Christmas…

Home Alone: Lost in New York

Out of all the Home Alone movies, this is my fave.

There is something so magical about New York at Christmas and I know i’m not the only one when I say how much I wanted to stay at the Plaza Hotel..

Again, I could watch it over and over and Harry and Marv absolutely make this film, such great actors.

Christmas with the Kranks

Who doesn’t like Tim Allen?

I can really relate to this film as my mother loves Christmas festivities as much as Jamie Lee Curtis and will do EVERYTHING to try and make it perfect on the day… despite any accidents along the way.

The Santa Clause

Another one with my guy Tim Allen, they really don’t make films like this anymore…

I thought the sets and props in this film were so incredible (again I wanted to live in the North Pole)…

If your looking for a truly magical movie, then this is my pick, it really puts me in the festive mood.

The Holiday

Lastly, a romantic choice.

This is such a relaxing film and shows how Christmas is full of love and joy.

And how cool would it be to actually house swap with someone? Ummm…. VERY COOL, sign me up.

Well loves, that is my TOP 5 Christmas picks for you.

I would love to know your selections for this festive time too so let me know in the comments – I would love to hear!

So it has been a while…

I have a very good excuse.

As most of you know, I recently got engaged in May this year and I haven’t  really stopped since!

So you want to hear our BIG news?…

We have been living in our first home together for three weeks now and I am finally settled in.

I don’t think I realised how much I actually missed blogging until I sat down to type and write this post. It’s sad that I have missed out on a lot in the past few months but..

I AM BACK and ready to continue my blogging journey.

I wanted to share some of the first photos of our new home with you guys as I have been very much inspired by the blogging community, social media and Pinterest for ideas.

Our garden overlooks the beautiful fields where I grew up. I couldn’t ask for a better view to wake up to!

Were feeling very festive at the moment in our living room. Our tree is a 7ft spruce from Tesco and our Garland is from Buyology. It is so cosy in here, especially when the fire is lit.

Our bedroom needed a neutral and calm theme so we opted for cream and grey with pops of colour.

The kitchen is the heart of the home and I love it. We chose to add hints of copper in our accessories with my favourite being the clock from Dunelm. It matches perfectly with our coffee and sugar pots from Next.

Our dining room had a feature wall with the colour Meteor dust, a grey blue shade. Our side board is from Tesco and our table and chairs are from Ikea

Isn’t this the most adorable garland? My sister bought it for us along with a few other delights…

Our first decoration given to us, again from my sister for our new home.

Our bathroom is simple but classic, we went for a white and beige theme in here, very neutral.

So as you can imagine, alongside working full time etc, it has been pretty hectic these past months but its good to be back!

And the winner is…

So a little while ago I held a competition to win a STUNNING My Jolie Candle including a hidden surprise piece of jewellery…

I asked the question:

There were quite a few entries and it was so tough to pick one.. however…

“I would make it smell of cigarettes and rum ( in a nice way if course) to remind my mum off her dad because he sadly passed away.”

Congratulations and I hope you enjoy the beautiful candle as much as I do.

Make sure to check out her beautiful blog and find her on twitter!

Lipstick of the day.

I have been loving changing up my lip colours lately.

A pop of colour can create such a difference to any outfit or makeup look and is so quick and easy to create.

Today I wanted to share my favourite lip shade that I am always reaching for in my makeup bag, time and time again.

Loreal Paris: Juliannes Nude – £6.99

This lipstick is my ultimate favourite pink shade. I’ve mentioned it in many blog posts before and there is clear reason why..

The formula is super creamy and rich with a scent just like parma violets..yum! I feel as though it instantly moisturises my lips when applied.

As for the colour, its a very delicate soft shade so very wearable for everyday, it has quite cool undertones so works really well with my skin tone.

There are so many shades in the collection so head on over to your local boots to get your hands on them! I highly recommend.

Instagram Catch Up

Happy Monday everyone!

It’s about time that I did another Instagram post for you guys to catch up with all of my latest adventures.

So as you can imagine, I have been super busy lately but I absolutely love snapping pics when I can.

So this is my first bridal magazine that one of my best friends bought me. Even before I was engaged, I have always loved looking at another to do with weddings and it was a pure joy to read it with a cup of tea snuggled in bed. It has some amazing tips and ideas and everything looks so pretty….

So I’m having holiday blues already. This bikini is from primark and I absolutely love it. It’s a gorgeous coral pink and these are so in fashion right now. Plus it matched my nails…

Aren’t these flowers stunning? I was sitting in the garden in the sun and couldn’t resist snapping my freshly painted nails with these beauties. I use the Barry M coconut infused polish in the shade skinny dip.

Ahhhh bliss. This was my favourite spot in Rhodes. The boardwalk ran from our hotel right to the sea. The beach was very pebbly with lots of little shells but the water was warm and crystal clear. Take me back…

You’ve all seen this one. My beautiful engagement ring. It still hasn’t sunk in yet but every time I look at my ring, I just think how lucky I am to have such an incredible fiancé who I’m going to spend the rest of my life with…

This necklace is so simple but I absolutely love it. It was in my Jolie Candle and has a super sparkly Swarovski crystal embedded in it too. If you want to WIN one of those amazing candles and a chance to get your hands on a beautiful piece of jewellery then click HERE.
I was loving my outfit this day, and everything I’m wearing is from my fave place primark. My grey sleeveless coat was an absolute bargain, it was originally £23 reduced to £10! I love a bargain!

And that is my latest from Instagram. I would love to follow as many of you guys as possible so SEND ME YOUR LINKS IN THE COMMENTS.
