Autumn Favourites: My top 5 autumnal activities 2018

Uncategorized

img_1053-4

Autumn is one of my favourite times of year. I love the weather, I love the colours and ofcourse I love all of the autumnal fashions and styles.

This year I have felt much more autumnal that usual and I love it. I have learnt to appreciate the little things like the colours of leaves the trees or enjoying a cup of tea reading a good book. Its those little things that I have adored this year so far.

I wanted to share my top 5 autumnal activities so you too could get in to the seasonal spirit.

  1. Venture Outside

The world is a beautiful place and it’s a shame to waste this beautiful season indoors. I love to go for walks at every opportunity and just looks at the different colours autumn provides. The landscape changes so much with the seasons and it is so interesting to watch it change. I recently went to my local welsh heritage centre St Fagans where they have lots of old historical buildings set within farming space. They also have a castle and ground which was stunning this time of year. And the best part…..Its completely free! Click Here to check it out.

2. Enjoy a good food and good drink – Try something new.

If you havent already seen my previous blog post, I tried out a new craft beer pub locally to me which was incredible. Head of Steam has fantastic array of drinks and food options set in a cosy warm environment that make it hard to leave. I love nothing more than hearty food this time of year and it certainly didnt disappoint. Check our my post HERE.

3.  Enjoy a cup of tea and a good book

This is a good one. I love nothing more than snuggling under a blanket, book in hand and a cup of tea (my fave drink next to wine). I have been reading The ruby in the smoke by Phillip Pullman and it is amazing – It is definitely hard to put down. I have also been loving reading blog posts to get some early christmas ideas and fashions of the season. Send me the link to your favourite bloggers, I would love to know!

4.  Go shopping for the season

You all know I love Primark. They are killing it with their autumn wear at the moment. I have recently bought a few key pieces for the season including some orange knitwear, slipper socks and a fluffy jacket. I have also bought some knee high brown boots that are possibly the best things since sliced bread. Check out my last Primark haul Here.

5. Get creative

Since the beginning of September, my house has been filled with pumpkins and candles and blankets you name it…. I love making my house as cosy as possible in the autumn, it creates such a relaxing atmosphere that is no nice to cuddle up in when its dark outside.  Even just a few more cushions or blankets really makes a difference. My favourite candle at the moment is the Yankee Candle – Red apple wreath. It has such a sweet scent with musky undertones that create the cosiest autumny vibe. What is your favourite scent this autumn?

There is plenty more for sure but these have to be my top 5. I would love to know what your favourite activities are in the autumn and let me know of any recommendations in the comments below.

Head of Steam Cardiff: The NEWEST craft beer pub in the city

Uncategorized

img_1053-4

So there may be a couple of things you don’t know about me…

Ofcourse you know I love shopping and makeup and fashion… I also LOVE food.

I’m a real foodie at heart, and I love exploring new and upcoming restaurants and businesses.

I was invited to attend the opening of the NEW craft beer pub Head of Steam in Cardiff and I jumped at the chance of being able to review new food and an array of drinks! I was able to bring my husband which was so lovely as I was able to share my blogging experiences with him for the first time.

So on Monday 29th October, we took our short Uber ride into town (Cardiff) and made our way to the venue. Head of Steam is a really modern venue yet very cosy and inviting at the same time.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the staff who welcomed us in and showed us to the bar. As this was opening night, we were lucky enough to be able to try everything complimentary so we couldn’t wait to try all the interesting options!

I decided to try one of my all time faves first – a classic Gin and Tonic. It was divine. The choice of gin available was amazing, I opted for a fruity raspberry gin which was very refreshing and was great to drink whilst browsing the menu.

45850264_770772843260153_1985729995607113728_n.jpg

After that I fancied a cocktail – another love of my life. I asked the bar staff what they would recommend and they were so knowledgeable about all the different drinks they provide. I was recommended to try the Steamy Martini which comes with a shot of prosecco!

Honestly, it was probably one of the best cocktails I have ever tried. It had such a gorgeous passionfruit flavour – very easy to drink – followed by my prosecco shot. Plus how stunning does it look!

The decor is fantastic and I kept finding new things to look at at every turn of the head, They have a wall full of neon lights/ advertisements and old posters which really gave me biker chic vibes – I LOVE IT!

For our food, we were spoilt for choice. Since we were in a craft beer pub we decided to go for one of the recommended choices – The Besler.

Check out the rest of their menu and prices HERE.

It consists of 3 tapas style tasters alongside their paired matching beers. This was right up our street and we took our time choosing our options.

When the food arrived I was shocked at the amount we received. Usually when I have tapas its typically very small plates that don’t really fill you up. This however was an exception!

I chose:

King prawn tortilla which paired with PILSNER.

Chicken Skewers which paired with ENGLISH GOLDEN ALE.

Red Pepper Houmous with garlic and coriander naan which paired with BELGIAN BLONDE ALE.

As a complete novice of ales, it was so good to try such a selection and see how well they paired with the different foods. I highly recommend this dish as it gives you such a wide selection of everything they provide.

45782269_2169626936427721_4651631215734947840_n

It felt completely relaxed and so cosy the whole time we were there and it felt like such a good socialising venue. The music selection was great and was not too loud which is one of my pet peeves – I hate not being able to talk to the person next to me so this was perfect.

If your in Cardiff, I highly advise you try this new delightfully delicious venue. Good food, Amazing drinks and cosy atmosphere.

They are also on Instagram HERE.

Have you guys got any recommendations for me to try? I would love to know!

LUSH Christmas Event + Christmas HAUL

Uncategorized

img_1053-4

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Im a true season girl, I love Autumn, I love Winter but of course CHRISTMAS is so magical and I’m already in the festive spirit.

I was invited to the LUSH Christmas Event at my local LUSH store and I jumped at the chance! I have been shopping at LUSH for as long as I can remember and their products are AMAZING! They pride themselves in providing cruelty free products and fight against animal testing which I absolutely LOVE.

If you have never seen or smelt any of the LUSH products then you are seriously missing out. They are constantly coming up with new ideas for products and get better and better each year.

So grab a cup of tea and have a wander with me through LUSH at Christmas – I promise you will be left feeling festive – CLICK HERE.

This year is no exception with their Christmas range, it is stunning. So I was greeted by the team and a refreshing welcome drink to sip as I wandered through the gorgeous scents. I had the chance to be helped by a lovely girl called Eman (Im so sorry if thats misspelled!) who explained every single product that caught my eye.. and there was a lot.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I had so many demonstrations of all the products I wanted to view and got to try a good few! Ten minutes in and I was already feeling pampered.

I was lucky enough to be able to make my own Christmas facial cleanser called Buche De Noel which has ground almonds, cranberries, mandarin and of course BRANDY – You have to have a tipple at Christmas…

_SAM1934.JPG

It was so lovely being able to make it myself and see EXACTLY what goes in to my skincare products plus it was so much FUN!

I had a full tour of the SPA, yes you heard me right, SPA! It was truly so beautiful. Its themed just like an old farm style kitchen with reclaimed train tracks and a lot of wood panelling. There was candles everywhere and I had a chat about all the spa experiences on offer.

I was able to have a wonderful hand and arm massage by Jordan who explained about all the oils that work wonders for the skin – I could of stayed there all evening, it was so relaxing.

I finished off my evening by sampling some of the makeup which is such high quality and I loved being able to try anything and everything – my hands were very glittery after this. Of course I had to treat myself to a couple of things didn’t I? Maybe more than a couple…So with my bag full of goodies I left feeling truly relaxed and ready for the festive season ahead.

I created 3 Halloween tutorials using ONLY PRIMARK Halloween Makeup… SHOOK | BeautyandShe

Uncategorized

img_1053-4

It’s almost Halloween and I have been super busy creating some NEW looks for you guys!

What do you get when you combine my two favourite things… Primark and Autumn?

A Primark Halloween Tutorial! Or should I say three….

Primark bring out a small selection of Halloween makeup each year and I was browsing their spooky goods when I had a vision….not a scary one…..

I was inspired to create three different looks for ridiculously good prices on the cheap…

Now when I say on the cheap I don’t mean that nastily, I mean your girl is just looking out for you guys and trying to save you some pennies!

Nothing I bought was over £3.00, which for Halloween makeup is INCREDIBLE! The makeup that I bought consisted of a Jewelled headpiece, fake blood, face paint crayons, glitter paint creams, ghost contour stick and a skull temporary face tattoo.

I’ll be the one to test these out for you dolls so you don’t have too!

When I finished creating my three looks I was very surprised at how good they looked. For the price I had three individual looks that took less than half an hour each for a fraction of the price you would pay at a costume store.

Have a look below at how I created these looks and make sure you SUBSCRIBE!

The Pretty Skull

The first look I created was a simple “Day of the Dead” inspired Skull using the temporary tattoo and I was SHOOK! It was £1.50 and it worked like a dream. This is definitely one for the last minute party go-er as it took 15 minutes to apply and I was done. It looks really pretty (not terrifying) and is ridiculously easy to use.

_SAM1879

The jewelled clown/zombie/princess

For this look I used the jewelled headpiece which on its own looked flawless. I then created a gold smokey eye and continued to make my face look like it was dripping… Not going to lie, im not keen on this look entirely but the products from Primark worked so well! I used the gold and black glitter creams to add some sparkle and shine and make me look like a disco ball.

_SAM1888

I eat spiders for breakfast

This was my fave look out of the three and I created something similar last year on my eye but decided to try and eat one this year… I used the Primark ghost contour stick and fake blood to add all the secret special effects. And truthfully the spider didnt taste too bad…

_SAM1908

I am completely in awe at how well these looks turned out. I really wanted to show how inexpensive Halloween costumes/makeup can be but with a little patience and thought – It can turn out fantastic!

I hope you guys have enjoyed and make sure you SUBSCRIBE to my YOUTUBE channel – I am super close to 1000 subscribers!

Let me know if you have created any Halloween looks yet, I would love to see! You can find all mine on my Instagram too!

Full GLAM Halloween Skull Makeup: ABH Modern Renaissance Palette| BeautyandShe

Uncategorized

img_1053-4

It’s almost Halloween..

And its about time I created my first Halloween look of 2018. There has been so many AMAZING looks already this year.. I’ve seen a lot of pastel colours, galaxy/space inspired looks and ofcourse A LOT of glitter and gemstones.

I am a total magpie when it comes to anything shiny, glittery or sparkly so of course I knew I had to include GEMSTONES in my look.

If you haven’t heard of the Modern Renaissance Palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills then I don’t know where you have been – I have never owned a palette with so much pigment, it is incredible!

I found my inspiration when I was walking through Home Bargains (fave home store) when I something sparkly caught my eye.  For 75p I found a set of gorgeous purple, silver and black gems that I knew would look stunning alongside my palette.

The palette itself has a lot of purples, oranges pinks that I thought would look gorgeous for a bit more of a GLAM look rather than spooky.

I wanted to create something super easy and not complicated and doesnt take hours and hours to make.

I’m MARRIED!! + AUTUMN PRIMARK HAUL |BeautyandShe

Uncategorized

img_1053-4

Guys!

I am back! Well hasn’t it been a while!

If you don’t already know, I recently got married to the love of my life (cheesey) and I have not long got back from our honeymoon.

I won’t bore you too much now (I will write an ENTIRE blog post about our wedding) but we truly had the most incredible wedding day.

I’ve returned from 35 degree heat to true autumn back here in Wales so I knew instantly that Primark was calling my name. I follow them in IG and constantly follow autumn updates and trends so I had a bit of an idea what I wanted.

The store was full of autumn colours, reds, browns, greens, oranges and I couldn’t wait to dive right in (not literally, although some people do). As I write this I realise most of the items I bought are monochrome and not very autumn inspired at all…. Ahh well.

Ofcourse I have uploaded a haul to my YT channel which you can find here.

Or if you prefer the traditional method of photography then look no further…

NEW Rimmel Stay Satin SWATCHES + Try ON |BeautyandShe

Beauty, Makeup, Uncategorized

img_1053-4

I LOVE LIPSTICKS.

There, I’ve said it. I have an absolute obsession.

Do you guys have a staple makeup piece that your obsessed with? Well you know mine.

I also love reading a good lipstick swatch post as it really shows you product colour and texture before you take the plunge to purchase.

And that is exactly what I am going to do today.

So you all know Rimmel London – one of the most popular, good quality and affordable brands in the UK?

I have the brand NEW STAY SATIN LIQUID LIP range to show you guys and I am beyond excited. When I first read up on these, I couldn’t wait.

What more do you want: Pigmentation, long lasting, lightweight, 14 shade, GORGEOUS?!!!

This range has it all. I have eight bright and beautiful colours swatched for you so take a look and see what you think!

Make sure you subscribe to my Youtube Channel so you don’t miss out – click HERE or below:

The Swatches:

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Shade: As If?

A gorgeous nude shade that glided on effortlessly, the lightest shade in my collection. Not crumbly at all and looks very subtle.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Shade: Shoulder Pads

This is my FAVOURITE shade – it is a very pretty pink/nude that will go well with everything!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Shade: Scrunchie

I love this bright pop on colour – its is such a beautiful summer shade that I will definitely be wearing this month.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Shade: Obsession

This one was OK, not really my thing but did look pretty on! Perhaps with a tan it will look even better.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Shade: Redical

How gorgeous is this classic red shade? The good thing about this colour is that it makes your teeth look so white!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Shade: For Sure

Seriously not my thing. It was very sheer and moved around alot. The formula is very different from the others and I look like an alien.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Shade: Atomic

Same with this one – It kind of makes me look like ive got the flu or im very cold – did not blend well either.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Shade: Glam Rock

I don’t hate the colour but again the formula was all wrong, super streaky and thin, it was sliding everywhere and got all over my teeth!

In all, a very good range from what I tried! The nude shade will always be my favourite but it is nice to try something a bit brighter every now and again!

Which shade is your favourite? Let me know in the comments below!
